Chahak opens with 12,000+ toys
The toy library opened in Jawahar Nagar with toys, games and a mini theatre, as a programme run by children, for children.
Dainik BhaskarChahak is a toy library where toys that families no longer use find new homes. Children come in to play with hundreds of ride-ons, games, puzzles, dolls and soft toys, free of charge.

Chahak (चहक) means the happy chirping of birds. We collect toys that families no longer use, clean and sort them, and open them up to children who would not otherwise have them. Every child who walks in gets to play, learn and imagine.
Access to every toy and game is free for children from underprivileged families.
Science kits, puzzles and board games build curiosity, patience and problem-solving.
Instead of gathering dust at home, toys keep moving from one child to the next.
People across Sri Ganganagar bring in toys their children no longer use.
Every toy is checked, cleaned and placed on the shelves by type.
Kids visit the library in Jawahar Nagar and play with whatever they love.
Toys are shared from child to child, so nothing sits unused.

Book a celebrationHi, I’m Aaditri, a Grade 9 student and co-founder of Chahak. I’ve always believed that childhood should have room for play, curiosity, and the freedom to explore. Chahak is something I care about because every child deserves a space where they can simply be a child, regardless of their circumstances. Through Chahak, I hope to help create more opportunities for children to play, discover new things, and make memories that stay with them. For me, it’s about something simple but important: making sure that every child gets to experience the joy of childhood.
Hi, I’m Akshit, co-founder of Chahak and a Grade 10 student. I believe that play is an important part of growing up, helping children learn, build friendships, and express themselves. Chahak gives us an opportunity to make that experience accessible to more children by creating a space filled with toys, activities, and opportunities to explore. Being part of Chahak means working towards something that can make a real difference in children's everyday lives, and I hope we can continue to bring more smiles, experiences, and opportunities to the children who visit us.
